You're Not Stuck. You're In-Between.

You're Not Stuck. You're In-Between.

There's a moment that happens in most of my discovery calls. Someone sits across from me (virtually, usually) and says: "I feel stuck."

And then they list everything they've tried. The books they've read. The courses they've taken. The conversations they've had. "Nothing's working," they say. "I'm just... stuck."

Here's what I've noticed: most people who think they're stuck aren't actually stuck. They're in-between and there's a difference.

What "Stuck" Actually Feels Like

Stuck feels like you can't move. Like there's no path forward. Like you're trapped but when we dig deeper, that's rarely what's actually happening.

What's usually happening is this: you're between versions of yourself.

  • Between who you were and who you're becoming.

  • Between the life you built and the life that's trying to emerge.

  • Between the identity that worked before and the one you haven't quite stepped into yet.

That's not stuck. That's in-between.

The In-Between Is Uncomfortable

I get why people call it "stuck." The in-between is profoundly uncomfortable. You don't belong where you were anymore but you're not fully in the new place yet.

You've outgrown the old version of success but you haven't defined the new one. You know something needs to change but you can't name what it is.

It's disorienting. It's uncertain. It feels like limbo. So yeah, "stuck" is an easier word for it.

Why the Difference Matters

When you think you're stuck, you look for ways to get unstuck.

You search for the answer. The solution. The thing that will move you forward.

You read more books. Take more courses. Have more conversations and when those don't work, you feel even more stuck but when you understand you're in-between, the approach changes completely.

You stop trying to force clarity that isn't ready yet. You stop looking for the perfect answer. You start sitting with the discomfort of not knowing.

That's where the actual transformation happens.

What the In-Between Requires

The in-between doesn't need answers. It needs presence.

It needs you to:

  • Stop running from the uncertainty. The discomfort is information. It's telling you something's shifting. That's good, even if it doesn't feel good.

  • Acknowledge what you're leaving behind. You can't step into the new version of yourself while still clinging to the old one. What are you letting go of?

  • Get honest about what you don't know yet. You don't have to have it figured out. You just have to admit you don't know. That's not weakness. That's clarity.

  • Trust the process even when it's uncomfortable. Growth isn't linear. The in-between is messy. That's normal.

The In-Between Is Where Coaching Helps

This is exactly where coaching makes a difference. Not because I have the answers for you but because the in-between is nearly impossible to navigate alone.

Your brain doesn't like uncertainty. It wants resolution. So it either:

  • Pushes you to make a decision before you're ready, or

  • Keeps you cycling through the same thoughts without moving.

Coaching creates the space where you can actually sit with the in-between.

Where you can explore what's emerging without forcing it. Where you can acknowledge what you're leaving behind without judgment. Where you can start to see the path forward, even if it's just the next step.

You're Not Broken

If you're in the in-between right now, here's what I want you to know:

  • You're not broken.

  • You're not failing.

  • You're not stuck.

  • You're just in-between.

And that's one of the most important places you can be because the in-between is where transformation happens. It's where you stop performing the old version of yourself and start becoming the new one.

It's uncomfortable but it's not permanent and you don't have to do it alone.

If you're navigating the in-between and you need support, let's talk.
